As one of the top 10 home builders in the nation, K. Hovnanian Homes saw an opportunity to reimagine the home buying experience online by investing in technology and user-centered design. For over nine months, I had the privilege of learning the ins and outs of their business and the industry with multiple one-on-one sessions with Ara Hovnanian, the founder's son and current CEO. With this unprecedented access, I was able to guide our design and technology teams to develop a best-in-class experience that fundamentally changes the way people find, design, and shop for new homes.

An elevated shopping experience

An elevated shopping experience

With dozens of interior configuration and pricing options at their fingertips, it was imperative that home buyers understood the depth and breadth of options available in the simplest way possible. To do so, we designed a visualization tool that quickly scans through kitchen and bathroom interiors by simply dragging the mouse (or finger) across the screen.

A design system optimized for business

We created a comprehensive design system that allows for maximum authoring flexibility while still staying true to the brand. Great effort was put into making a fully responsive, accessible experience where even more advanced functionality meets minimum accessibility guidelines (WCAG 2.2, AA).

KHov-Digital-Style-Guide

A smarter way to shop for a home online.

Inspired by configruation tools used across the automotive industry, we designed an experience that guides customers through key decisions on finishes, appliances, fixtures, and more for their new home. The Design & Price tool takes a step beyond just visualizing a home into connecting the buyer directly with the community sales representative in a beautiful, simple, and honest way.
